What can we do to minimize bandwidth usage?

We have 6 Devices setup, each have 3-5 slides but they use very high amounts of bandwidth from our host each month. What could be the cause of this? And is there anyway we can lower bandwidth usage by using caching plugins?

      How much is “high bandwidth”?
Do you have a lot of videos or other large size files?
      Are your devices restarting regularly?
I’d advise against caching plugins as those make you unable to update your slides.

Bandwidth usage is about 20-30gb / month and about 90,000 compute cycles.

      No videos are being used.

Do displays check for new content automatically or do they only refresh when a change is made to the playlist?

And for the Twitter Widget, how does the feed get new content?

They periodically check via ajax request if the timestamp of the last edit changed and only then update the content/refresh the page.
So that shouldn’t be that much traffic.

If you have the 1.6.4 enterprise version you can change under settings how often they check this.

I used the Inspector in Chrome and noticed that the Twitter widget has Network activity every few seconds.

Can you explain what the Twitter widget is doing? Does it check for new data often?

Not really, we use the widget provided directly by twitter.
